How this PDF compressor works

This tool renders each page and saves it again as a compressed image inside a new PDF. That is very effective for scans, photos and image-heavy documents, which are the files that are usually too large. Choose a strength, press Compress and compare the new size with the old one. If the result is not smaller, the tool tells you instead of giving you a bigger file.

What you should know before you use it

Because pages are turned into images, the text in the new PDF cannot be selected or searched, and links and form fields stop working. For a scanned document that is usually fine. For a text document where you need to copy text or keep links, this is the wrong tool, and a text-based PDF is often small already. Always keep your original file.

Which strength should I pick?

Light keeps pages sharp enough for reading and printing. Medium is a good balance for email and upload forms. Strong gives the smallest file and is fine for on-screen reading, but small print may get hard to read. If one level is not enough, try the next one down.

Private by design

Your PDF is processed on your own device. It is never uploaded, so it is safe for contracts, IDs and other private papers, and there are no file-size caps from a server. Very large PDFs depend on your device memory, so be patient with documents of hundreds of pages.

FAQ

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.

No. It is compressed in your browser and never sent to our servers.

Pages are saved as images to reduce the size, so the text becomes part of the picture. If you need selectable text or working links, keep your original file.

Text-based PDFs are often small. Turning them into images would make them larger, so the tool does not offer that result.
